A practical example: a company engaged in fuel trading came with a request for consulting. The business includes 16 subsidiaries, each of which independently conducts its activities. The company has a single client base, but management accounting is out of sync. Each "daughter" independently issues invoices to the client for each refueling.
The following situation arose with another client, a logistics company. The company's trucks were traveling from Murmansk to Magadan. On the way, they refueled at 10 DZOs. At the end content writing service of the reporting period, the customer receives 10 different invoices, and this is not even the biggest problem. The main thing is that none of them contain the required discounts for the volume of fuel shipped. The client is dissatisfied with the service and is ready to change the supplier. The management understands that the problem arose due to the lack of transparency of the data, and begins to look for its source.

Thus, during the analysis, we understand that it is necessary to start solving the issue with the implementation of NSI. In parallel with this, it will be possible to close a number of other important tasks. For example, to start creating corporate reporting, which can be collected in literally a couple of days instead of two months. All this will have a positive effect on customer loyalty and can provide truly significant business benefits for the customer.
Another case that demonstrates the demand for MDM in logistics. One of our customers is a large company that produces, delivers, and sells large batches of perishable and expensive goods. The company has an IT infrastructure that includes a logistics system, a warehouse accounting system, and other solutions. One of the company's clients moved to another region of the country. The data about this was manually transferred to one system, but not to the other. This led to the fact that one day a huge truck with a refrigerated truck went to the wrong city. It sounds quite dramatic, considering how much it can cost to lose expensive perishable goods along the way.
Meanwhile, the problem lies in the NSI plane and is eliminated relatively easily thanks to the implementation of MDM and its synchronization with all subordinate systems and reference books. Thus, the necessary operation will need to be performed only once. No data will need to be transferred to multiple systems.
BUSINESS GROWTH AND DATA
MDM is needed when a company is rapidly developing. This may happen due to business growth, reorganization, participation in mergers and acquisitions. Obviously, for stable growth, the business must be manageable. At a minimum, the company must implement centralized reporting, which is impossible to obtain without unified reference data.
